The End.

Feels pretty gratifying to write that at the end of a novel, clocking in at just under 99,000 words. Of course, it's not really the end, but the beginning of the re-write. Still, it's something to celebrate!

...you should make a soundtrack for it, and then play that while you write. That's what works for me anyway. Ending isn't completely finished, but the major conflict is. Quite an accomplishment.

"Write in recollection..."

"...and amazement for yourself." Thank you, Jack Kerouac. And I have been amazed.

Movin' right along.

Get your motor runnin'.

Head out on the highway.

'Cause (today) it's easy...

Easy like Sunday mornin'.

You better check my oil.

Because I'm a machine.

Let's keep it simple, today.

About done typing, I'm sure you understand.

"No subject is terrible...

...if the story is true, if the prose is clean and honest, and if it affirms courage and grace under pressure." Ernest Hemingway said that. Or at least a guy portraying him in a Woody Allen movie I saw this afternoon said that. Still, it's a good line.

I haven't slacked off. Well. When I did slack off, it wasn't so much that nothing was accomplished.

A Resurrection

Or perhaps a reincarnation. That's how I'd like to think of the return to my live journal.

I'm pretty serious about NaNoWriMo this time around. Not that I wasn't serious before, but I've never been so close to finishing a novel as I am now. I found this widget on a website, and I really wanted to use it. So I'm starting NaNoWriMo in October and setting myself up to write right through November.

I already have 58,000 words written. My plan is to write another 50,000 and finish the novel by midnight November 30, 2011. No excuses. Today I wrote 1,000 words to bring myself to 58k, so we'll be counting that in today's meter.

This time it's happening. This time the book will be finished. That is all.
